D’arne was initially trained in Australia as a primary school teacher and then a teacher-librarian. Since moving to Ireland in 1996, she has worked in Special Education as a teacher for ASD students. In 2001 she completed a Post-Grad Cert. in Autism, through the University of Birmingham. In 2002 she was the Irish teacher representative for the working party on the cross-border project that resulted in the CD Rom 'ASD A Teacher's Toolkit' that was distributed to all schools in the island of Ireland. D'arne was a forum facilitator for Scoilnet in the area of autism in 2000, and more recently has worked as a NCTE Tutor in 'ICT for ASD' and as a Scoilnet SME. In 2005 she joined the SESS as an Associate in ASD. D'arne has been an ICEP Europe tutor since 2006, working principally on the Autism course. D'arne is currently working as a teacher for ASD students in a special school.
