About the course
One of the most commonly diagnosed disorders in childhood, Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex, diverse and often misunderstood condition which is characterised by age inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity, and, in some cases, hyperactivity. Estimates suggest that that about 5% of children have ADHD. Without understanding, effective supports and interventions, many of these students will struggle academically and socially and are at increased risk of various negative outcomes including school failure.
Designed to give teachers and other professionals the in-depth knowledge and practical skills essential for helping children and young people with ADHD succeed and reach their full potential, this course is full of detailed help and advice for classroom, school and home. Grounded in the science of ADHD, it focuses on practical strategies and evidence-based techniques to enhance and develop learning and prevent behavioural problems. There is a strong emphasis on early intervention, collaborative approaches, working with student’s strengths and in partnership with parents.
While there is no quick fix or cure for ADHD, with the right supports and effective teaching, children and young people with ADHD can enjoy school and flourish and thrive.
