Dr Margaret O’Donnell

Dr Margaret O’Donnell, Outstanding Educator

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our much-loved colleague and friend, Dr Margaret O’Donnell last weekend, after a short illness fought with courage and resilience.

Margaret was a passionate educator and researcher who through her work, shaped policy and provision in the area of inclusive education in Ireland and internationally. Her deeply held values around equality and inclusion were integral to every aspect of her life, both personal and professional.

Margaret taught and supervised on several of our collaborative programmes, including the Masters in Special and Additional Learning Needs with the University of East London.  She also played a pivotal role in developing our innovative new joint programme in Inclusive and Special Education with Hibernia College.  She inspired and empowered her students and was generous beyond measure, going above and beyond in her teaching and supervision.

A true professional and a committed educator, her immense contribution to education will continue to have significant influence on pupils and educators into the future,

We are privileged to have had her as a valued friend and colleague, she will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will miss her greatly.

Our condolences to her family in this difficult time. May she rest in peace.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
