As we commemorate International Women’s Day, we are reminded of the profound impact of female leaders in child education, psychology and research. At ICEP Europe, we celebrate the diverse voices and contributions of women who are driving positive change in the fields of child education, psychology, and research. Join us as we honor our “Community of Change Makers” and explore the transformative journeys of our remarkable team members: Dr. Ke Ren (Rita) (Academic Programme Lead in Special Education, ICEP Europe) and Aleksandra Szproch (Senior Research Officer, ICEP Europe).
Dr. Ke Ren’s Journey:
As we celebrate international Women’s Day, I am reminded of the power of community and the impact of collective action. This year, as we celebrate ICEPE Europe’s “Community of Change Makers,” I am delighted to share my journey in the fields of child education, psychology, and research, with a special focus on creating inclusive environments for children with disabilities and their families, including those from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
My work has been driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of education and the necessity of early intervention. Through rigorous research, I have explored the challenges and triumphs of immigrant families in Ireland as they navigate the educational landscape for their children with disabilities. This journey has not only shed light on the barriers these families face but has also highlighted their resilience and the critical role of supportive communities in fostering positive educational outcomes. My engagement with families from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds has enriched this research, offering unique insights into the multifaceted nature of inclusion and the importance of culturally responsive practices in education. I’m delighted to share that I will be presenting this research in the upcoming Educational Studies Association of Ireland (ESAI) conference, and I look forward to the opportunity to engage with you to share our collective progress as we continue to advocate for the rights and education of every child.
Thank you for being part of this transformative journey. Together, as a community of change makers, we are making strides towards a more inclusive world.
Aleksandra Szproch’s Reflections:
International Women’s Day reminds me of the power that female role models in the area of education and research have had on my career so far. As we celebrate ICEP Europe’s “Community of Change Makers”, I want to thank all of the female researchers and educators who have paved the way for me. It is a particular joy to work in a female-led company, with such a strong ethos of inclusion and diversity in education. By ensuring that diverse voices are heard and respected within educational spaces, we create environments where everyone can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives. Inclusive education fosters creativity, innovation, and critical thinking by embracing the richness of human diversity. It empowers individuals from all backgrounds to reach their full potential and prepares them to navigate an increasingly interconnected and globalised world. As we commemorate International Women’s Day and celebrate the strides made by female leaders in education, let us redouble our efforts to create inclusive educational ecosystems that uplift and empower learners of all genders, backgrounds and abilities.
On this International Women’s Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to all the women who are driving positive change in child education, psychology and research. As a “Community of Change Makers,” we remain committed to fostering inclusive educational ecosystems where everyone can thrive. Together, let us continue to advocate for the rights and education of every child, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable future.
