My intern experience with ICEP Europe

Lucy McGill is one of our research interns who has been working on our different research projects with Erasmus+ since 2018. Today she tells us about her experience working with ICEP was like and what she has taken from her time here.

Since December I have been working at ICEP Europe as a Research Intern. I work most directly with Grainne and Stephen – the research team at ICEP. ICEP are involved in a range of different projects. They run a variety of online Continued Personal Development (CPD) courses, as well as being involved in international and national research projects. Many of the projects that ICEP work on, are a collaboration between ourselves and four or five (depending on the project) other EU countries, including Italy, Lithuania, Malta and Greece and sometimes organisations within the U.K.

Therefore, the tasks that I complete on a daily basis vary hugely. They include reading articles and compiling literature reviews of various topics, reviewing bids for research tenders, designing course content and discussing relevant issues with other members of the team. Every now and then, the work takes us out of the office – from filming short videos relating to the research projects, to running workshops in local schools, to piloting some of the activities with relevant professionals and launching the finished materials.

Every day brings new challenges, but the atmosphere in the open-plan office is always bright, the kettle is always hot and there are usually some biscuits lying about! Since starting my internship in December 2019, I have learned a great deal of skills, many of which I am looking forward to using and adding to in the near future. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with ICEP Europe!
